The mountain residence is a ground up custom house nestled in a grove of aspens and pines in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Situated just outside of a remote ski town, this house is designed to take full advantage of the incredible views and the peaceful wilderness of its surroundings.

The clients are lovers of the outdoors and wanted their house to blur the boundaries between enclosed space and nature. The majority of the glazing is directed towards views of beautiful snowcapped peaks, with large sliding glass doors that provide opportunities for outdoor entertaining as well as cozy evenings by the fire. The exterior of the house is clad in charred wood, providing a neutral contrast with the warm wood interior spaces. The surrounding landscape takes a light touch approach to providing usable outdoor spaces that seamlessly transition into the natural environment.
